Why Pets Need Routine Dental Care
Many cats and dogs suffer from some form of gum disease, which can begin affecting pets as early as age 3, according to the American Veterinary Dental College. Gum disease occurs when plaque and tartar buildup spreads beneath the gum line. This can lead to loose teeth, bone loss, and diseases of the heart, lungs, and kidneys, should bacteria from the mouth enter the bloodstream. Signs of gum disease include:
